Subject – Introducing Our New FinOps Lead
Hi there, and welcome to the third edition of Source Code Conversations, it’s good to have you with us. We use this series to sit down with experts from across the business to talk about the latest news and important updates from their areas. This month we had the privilege of speaking with Source Code Control’s new FinOps Lead, Abhinav Sarna, for an introduction and update on what’s top of mind for him. Zoe Hawkins: Hi Abhinav, good to see you and thanks a lot for spending some time with us. Firstly, congratulations on your new role with the company! Please can you tell us a bit about yourself and what you’ve been working on before your move to becoming our new FinOps Lead?
Abhinav Sarna: Hi Zoe, Thank you for having me—it’s a pleasure to connect with you. I’ve been with Source Code Control for the past three years, and it has been a highly rewarding experience. Prior to transitioning into FinOps, I served as a Lead Consultant for Cloud Operations at Source Code Control, India. In that role, I led the Solution Assessment Consultant team, supporting the delivery of Solution Assessments across Infrastructure, Application Modernisation, and Cybersecurity for Microsoft customers in India and South Asia.
Zoe: Thank you! That’s really great experience that you can bring to the new role and the world of FinOps. Understanding of course that you’re only just getting started, what excites you about FinOps and what are you most looking forward to working on moving forwards?
Abhinav: FinOps is a strategic framework that bridges the gap between finance, engineering, and other business units, fostering a culture of shared accountability for cloud costs and enabling improved business outcomes.
What excites me most about FinOps is the opportunity to leverage my prior experience in Cloud Operations—where I supported customers in their cloud adoption journey, provided tailored cloud solutions, and helped optimise their cloud spending.
Looking ahead, I believe FinOps will play a pivotal role in unifying cross-functional teams—including IT, Finance, Engineering, and Management—by automating and integrating key processes, and harnessing machine learning to drive smarter, more efficient cloud spend management both now and in the future.
Zoe: There’s a lot of potential in the Cloud Spend/FinOps world for sure, it feels like we’re just getting started and there’s a lot of awareness to drive out to both end user organisations and technology partners. With that in mind, I understand you have an exciting announcement that could help people to get started on their journey and see what’s possible?
Abhinav: Yes, that’s correct, Zoe. At Source Code Control, we are excited to be launching our Free FinOps Healthcheck. It is designed to help organisations quickly assess where they are on their FinOps journey, identify key areas for improvement, and uncover opportunities to optimise cloud spend. Whether you are just starting out or already have some practices in place, the Healthcheck provides a clear, actionable snapshot of your current state. In many cases. We can begin delivering basic FinOps insights with something as simple as a cloud invoice. Of course, the more data an organisation is able to share, the more comprehensive and actionable our insights will be.
